Misconceptions in Suicide

Updated: Apr 3, 2021

Misconception 1: People who talk about suicide just want attention.

Never ignore them! These talks are just clues hinting what they feel inside. Phrases such as ‘I wonder how my family and friends would feel when they know I’m dead.’ or ‘ I’m done with my life, let me quit!’ are warnings we must pay attention to.

Misconception 2: Nothing can stop someone determined to attempt suicide.

Not true! These people don’t really want to die deep inside, they just want to cease the pain in their lives. However, like ordinary illnesses, it can be cured by medical treatment. Therefore we should not ignore people with psychological problems!
